19th International Book Festival (2012)

I stumbled upon this event the other day and I'm SO happy I did! I've never been to a book festival or book expo before and mainly this is why I don't like living here. But as it turns out, we do have an annual book festival here in Hungary, which I'm determined to visit in April 2012.

Apparently, the festival runs from 19 to 22 April, 2012 and takes place in Budapest, Hungary. According to the event's official website, it has about 50 or 60 thousand visitors each year. Exhibitors come mainly from the European Union - from Romania, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Greece, France and so on. The International Book Festival Budapest hosts representatives of world literature and of domestic intellectual life (about 100 authors from 25 countries, more than 400 Hungarian authors, scientists, and artists) and offers a wide range of cultural programs, such as meetings with authors, signings sessions, book premiers and presentations, roundtable discussions, concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and films.

Although I almost never read books by Hungarian authors, I still think it's going to be fun. :-) I just need to find someone to come with me. :-D

So jealous, I've always wanted to go a to book festival or expo! But it seems they're never close enough to where I live, and I don't think hubby would consider a book festival a 'vacation' lol.

Looks like a lot of fun! If I lived in Hungary I'd go with you! I'm already looking into saving up money to go to a Book expo this summer. It should be lots of fun!

Melissa, you need to tell me about it!!
Thanks Kristan and Celine :) I think I'll try to bribe my friend, she likes books anyway (in a non-obsessive way, though).
I'll let you all know how it goes, I'm sure it's going to be lots of fun!

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of too - I don't read anything by Hungarian authors and I'm not sure they'll have any English language books :/ But we'll see :D It's worth a try!
