Booking Through Thursday #6

This week's question:
E-readers like the Kindle and iPad are sweeping the nation … do you have one? Do you like it? Do you find it changes your reading/buying habits? If you don’t have one, do you plan to?
I don't have an e-reader yet, unfortunately. I'm saving up for a Kindle at the moment but I haven't had enough money to buy it yet, being a poor uni student and all. I don't think it would necessarily change my buying habits, but it my reading habits would definitely change. Thanks to Netgalley, I have lots of ebooks on my laptop - the only problem is, I don't like reading online. It gives me a headache and my eyes hurt after a while so it would be much easier with an e-reader. Which means I would read much more if I had an e-reader. The reason why my buying habits wouldn't change is that no matter how practical the Kindle is, I'll always prefer physical copies. There's nothing like holding a paperback copy in your hands. :-)

What do you think? Does it change your buying/reading habits?

Good news is the prices are coming down --

I got mine as a gift. Was skeptical but now I absolutely adore it.

I love my Kindle. I mostly buy the freebies and this way I get to know a lot of indie authors. Also, the actual reading on the screen doesn't bother my eyes at all the way reading on the pc does. I would definitely recommend one though I do wonder how often they're going to keep coming out with new ones thus, making the old obsolete. That really irks me.

I have both a nook and IPAD. When I need my Netgalleys read I prefer the Nook, because the screen is not as bright, but for everything else I prefer the IPAD. So it depends on what type of reader you are. Love what you have done with the blog. Love your header and background, Old follower.

My guess is, if you have a eReader you will prefer it!
I had the same attitude like you. Real books and so on.
I haven't bought a physical book in a year!
It's so much more convenient and you need less space as well.

A physical copy of a book is still way better than an e-copy. However, I'm slowly getting used to ebooks. I'm even planning to get an ipod touch just so I could read epubs. So yeah. :)

And oh, I think author Henry Mosquera posted a rather enlightening entry about real books vs ebooks. Perhaps you might want to check it out. ^_^

You know, this is where I admit to being an odd ball. First, my Kindle definitely changed my reading habits. I went from totally against it to reading everything on it. It was quick, mostly cheaper and convenient! This was at the beginning of the year and when I started the blog. (duh, LOL) This summer though I started getting weird migraines all the time and barley read at all. Until I picked up a random paperback and read super easy! This sure had me wondering what was up, since I never had a migraine from my Kindle and only the computer!

I took a complete break from e-books for like 2 months and tried the Kindle again, with no luck. So I went ahead and tried my phone. And what do you know? It worked to read on, hahah. Even my computer is nicer to read on. I have NO idea what is wrong with me. Maybe there's something wrong with the text on my Kindle, making it like blurry even though I don't realize it, but... Yeah. No good anymore. ._. And yes, I'm the only one I've heard of with the issue!

So no, nowadays, it haven't affected my reading habits other than for it being nice to use on galleys. :) I'm mixing it up as much as possible and hoping I can one day use it again.

(Also, I totally missed holding the books and the gorgeous covers! So I'm glad I'm now a mixer! Works better in every way. :)

I will always be partial to having hardcovers/paperbacks. Nothing beats holding an actual book in your hands!

That being said, eReaders are convenient to carry around and I do enjoy reading on them too. I usually store my romance novels on there, and the stuff I get from NetGalley. :)

I received my Kindle as a gift...and I do enjoy how easy it is to download books.

I still love physical books, though.

I will always prefer real books but I love my Nook...I bought it in August when I started my blog! I have found that it had already paid for itself because I rarely buy e-books. I use it to read from NetGalley, free e-books and prizes. So now I can read all of those that I had to pass on before!

I got a headache from reading books on the PC so I made sure to get a reader with E-Ink (it looks like a newspaper and has no glare so it is easy on the eyes like a real book)

I was tempted to get something fancy and in color like the nook color or the new kindle, but I knew that the screen and the glare would give me headaches and now I am so happy that I got the E-Ink one. I can use my computer for pictures and video if I want...but I have an easy on the eyes/headache free e-reader to go through my galleys!

I can't read on my laptop either, but then I have the same problem with all the e-readers I've tried.

My BTT post is here if you'd like a look :)
